Can somebody confirm to me that if I have 4 wheel alignment done they will adjust the drag link bar and track rod bar? The reason I ask is because I have just changed them for hd bars and I didn't adjust them exactly the same distance as the old bars were.

thats the whole point mate

use the track rod to set the overall toe to 0 degrees (my recommendation) and use the drag bar to set the wheels dead ahead.

only set the drag bar when the steering box has been set to centre, the wheel centred on the steering column splines, and then rotated so that the wheel is level. then you steering system is as central as can be.

after that, set the drag bar so the car drives in a straight line.

you can set your track with a tape measure and your drag bar on a straight piece of road.

cheers

Thanks for that Mr Noisy, was bit of a stupid question I suppose
As for centralizing the steering box, how do you mean "centre the wheel on the column splines"? Take the steering wheel off of move it around?

yes.

some steering boes have a cutout underneath at the rear of the drop arm nut, you can stick a drill bit in there and lock the steering box to centre.

it is very important to start off with your steering box centred.

if you have the cutout, it makes it easy. then check your steering wheel is straight, otherwise remove it (pop the land rover badge out and undo the nut with your wheelbrace) and centralise it on the splines. make sure you engage the indicator self cancel ring properly at the back of the wheel.

if your box doesnt have a cutout, disconnect your drag link from the dop armand count the turns from left to right and back a few times. soon you will work out where the centre point is, and then check the wheel for straight.

now you can proceed to track up your wheels with a tape measure (0 degrees is fine on a landy and ideal because you simply check the wheels are equidistant from each other at the front and rear edge of the rim. check this a few times at different points on the wheels to account for wobbly wheels.

if this is too difficult, get the car on a simple supertracker to get the wheels to 0 toe.

then adjust your drag link so the car drives straight.

easy :)

Thanks for that, its most appreciated when people give clear and detailed advice to semi clueless people!! I'll have a look into that over the weekend.
