If they're owt like the defender ones, when ye flat out the lockin' washer and undo the first nut... then remove the second nut along with the washer.. pull the hub and release the outer bearin' race... grease it and stick it all back together;) :D
 
Full lock doesn't seem to effect it really. I'm 100% certain that it is my UJ nearest the box (as suggested earlier), I jacked the front offside wheel up and spun it really quick in both directions. The clinking noise came from the UJ against the tranny box. That explains that then! I shall order a Hardy Spicer / GKN part now =) I'll let you know how it goes! Should be a simple job to change really, but I always say that!

Hardy Spicer all the way! You changed one before POS?

I would recommend using a bloody great vice and a set of sockets to press them in and out, and make sure that you get the shelles to go in straight - otherwise you have to file back the lip that you make forcing it in. Ive done that too... :)
 
you gonna be convinced they wont fit pos , a bit like chinese puzzles ...:D

stick with it and it will suddenly dawn on ya what ya gotta do to fit them ..:D
 
Hey don't you worry, I've been reading Les's post on lr4x4 (might have been white 90 actually) Very useful stuff. I've not changed a UJ before (well, steering ones but they don't count!) but I've got all the tools I need I think... Paddocks don't have them for my 1986 90, they just say V8. Will one of those fit?

the main thing you must make sure is........DO NOT LET THE BEARINGS FALL OVER IN THE CUPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 its a pain in the arse when it happens, when i did my front prop(same uj as yours) 3 pins fell and i got ****ed off and paid someone to do the fooker for me (otherwise i would have ****ed it up in anger) pack it with grease and be gentle!!!!
