whats the ...... for?

daft question for the day:

does anyone know what purpose the big black rubber plug/bung/thingy in the passenger side of the transmission tunnel serves?

i've been up all night wondering..........

Can think of lots of answers but not a serious one.

If it's at the front it's prossibly for the levers when fitted to a lhd series??

its on the side - i think it lines up with where the filler plug is - if i remeber rite.

sounds plausable, i'll have to check that! just to add more confusion, i found a ex-military one that has two of the things, one on the side and one at the top!!

thats another sleepless night for me.........

No, even on LHD the red & yellow leavers are on the right. Bloody long reach too.

Its for fitting an overdrive

Don't think so... I have a overdrive and the lever is on the otherside...

It's to stop the water and mud getting in

the hole it covers it to tether the misses to when she is unchained from the sink

Sounds like its for an overdrive... But.. then again, which side is the passengers side. Its left hand side for me..

Had a look today... I think it is for filling up the gearbox oil....

the gearbox filler access is looking likely, the landy in that pic isnt the best for confriming that tho as the gearbox is mounted in the wrong place......
