Whats the cheapest type of Disco to run?

Hi, i am looking to buy a Discovery but not sure which type to go for? Firstly it needs to have good mpg (i.e 30+), Secondly it needs to be a 5 door manual. Last i would like full electric windows, mirrors, etc...

What variant should i be looking for?

300tdi manual with ES Spec should give you all the bells and whistles!

good mpg is something land rovers dont give... but with a tdi discovery the general area around 30 is in easy reach

not quite, but an old disco1 200 tdi running on chip fat, comes pretty close.

Is it possible to get freewheel hubs so that you can run a disco in 2wd, then manually lock the hubs for 4wd - would this improve mpg?

Cheapest Disco to run is someone else's

Freewheeling hubs will not work because of the transfer gear systen used. Dont put them on as they will do damage.OK on Series but not Discos.
