Whats the Best 4x4 Budget Tyre

Can anyone recommend a good Budget tyre supplier for my Freelander XDI
The size I need is 215/65R16 98H

There is a lot to choose from but I've been told some are unsuitable for 4x4s

I live near Chichester or work near Gatwick/Crawley.

Just fitted Scorpion STR per your size to my TD4. Very pleased as they are as quiet as previous Michelins. Cost £98 per tyre though.
I think some budgets can be noisy.

I am going to fit x4 Nankang tyres as they are reasonably priced.

Nankang & Khumo were always rated for budget offerings. Try checking out some of the better makes for special offers though.

Its very strange that I needed a new Diff a couple of weeks ago thats when the mechanic said we need x4 new tyres.

Would the faulty Diff have made the tyres wear down or would the tyres have made the Diff Go??

Unless you are disposing of car, it is far more sensible to fit quality tyres for safety alone, quality often is more ecconomical in the long run as they have better sidewalls and less likely to be damaged and wear better also.

You need a nice set of Yokohama Suicides.

Pirelli Scorpions (STR or whatever they are now), went round the tank course at Driffield (LRO spring adventure course) on them in 2008 (in the little 1.8 before died), all had less than the legal limit of tread on them (I din't say that ) , even through the deep slop it was fine, the only time the TC kicked in was when one of the chalk hills met full throttle in 1st gear. Good tyres but quite expensive, and if you want to do any work off the tarmac, wether it be greenlaning or mucking about round an off road course, they'll cope with it. Nice, smooth and grippy when on tarmac aswell.

As always, you get what you pay for, I'm in the motor trade and I stopped fitting 'budget' tyres about five years ago, why?? cos they're ****. As someone has already said, look for special offers on decent rubber, better ride, lower noise, safer handeling, better economy and they will last a damn site longer too!!!!!
