Hi. Had my 2000 Discovery TD5 a few weeks now, my first landrover. I've recently noticed that the engine whirrs a bit just above tickover speed. I know it's a bit of a poor description but it sounds like transmission noise even with the clutch dipped. There's a lot of engine driven stuff turning away in there, is it a case of they all do that or have i got a problem?. My car has ACE and aircon. Thanks Gra.

The only way to check is to compare with another similar model. As you said there are an awful lot of things being driven off the engine, all capable of making noise.

Thanks. My mate has a 2002 TD5 and his doesn't sound like mine. It's a sound that's more audible in the car and gets to a point where you can feel the vibes. It happens around 1250 rpm then fades with more revs, then returns as the revs drop. Gra.
