Whats next to go wrong??

Okay, newbie on this site but Freelander owner for 3-4 years.

Since buying my Millenium 5 door 1800 with 36K, it has had a new engine at 48k

, x2 drivers door regulators, sunroof tilt & slide mechanism left arm has sheared, so the sunroof is not fully closed on the left (wetting the seat if it has rained), windscreen wiper linkage just fallen off, and now the car decided not to start (inertia fuel cutouff had operated).

So, what am I likely to expect next?? Car has covered 71K (23K on new engine). Has every Freelander owner experienced the same problems as myself, or is there more to come.

Is it worth fixing the sunroof, or cutting my loses and selling

Sounds alright to me. Things go wrong with all old cars, that's why they build new ones! Dont mean to be facetious here but these are older cars now - I like my hippo plenty but if I could afford a new FL2 then I would have one. As for trading out to a new one go ahead or brace for increasing expense to maintain an older car properly.

Which will cost the most.......maintaining an older car or taking a hit on depreciation with a newer model

Ming, you can't be saying that your crystal ball states a Slitty is a better buy than a Freelander can you?? Mrs Ming will be after you!!

Suggest some good glass cleaner, probably a smudge you saw.

The point is there though, how can you measure new depreciation against old maintenance, new fuel economy against old tax, insurance..... Hell, I love my Hippo and I'm sticking by it.

This is the question. I would guess that many here would share this experience. I have spent quite a lot of time and money to get my vehicle up to scratch (and I'm a bit fussy), considerably more than its worth at this point. For me to swop it for a newer one, so the next owner gets all the benefit makes no sense. Now if I could afford an "in warranty" replacement - now we are really talking FL2, then thats a new ball game but I cant. If you still like your hippo, stick with what you know!
