I love my P38 but I decided long ago that once she goes to the great scrapper in the sky I will never touch another Land Rover. I want to get where I'm going in comfort and with minimum fuss, not a "lifestyle" vehicle where the lifestyle consists very largely of lying under it with various fluids dripping in my eye.
:clap2::hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi Thanks for putting things into perspective Rash

hmmm....Disco 4? Never really thought about that, large load space ideal for the family camping trips. I did think briefly about something sleek, but where I live, it really does have to be up high and mighty, and I do need good all weather performance so to speak!
As for reliability, my Lode Lane History has been a Stage 1 Safari (the mutts nuts), a Disco 1 V8, again, excellent, a Classic EFI, (overheated once) A Disco 2 V8 (overheating problems due to wrong coolant when first brought) and the P38 I now have. To be fair, the P38 has a few BECM issues and doesn't like the LPG system that is fitted (I don't like LPG). I am learning how to maintain it as I go on a preventative basis which sometimes turns into a bugger you've broke it now you've got to fix it basis!
The temptation is to do up Hugo and continue my relationship with him. As the previous keeper used LPG all the time, I'm thinking it's best to get the engine rebuilt and have the Top Hat liners fitted...I think if I was to go for it, the Chassis is in excellent condition so no worries there, but I would go for a performance upgrade and give it all the wood and cabin upgrades I could find. I wouldn't be putting stupid wheels on or anything silly, that's just not me, I wouldn't even change the lights to post 2000 tbh....I love the orange indicators!!!!!

You could even have the TDV6 diesel upgrade and still have lots of cash left over:)
