Hi, I'm new to landrovers and I'm looking for my first one.
I like the idea of a 3.5 V8 90, but before I buy one I want to know what they are like and if there is anything that I should need to know or look out for.

I am looking at ones which have been converted to LPG in particular, does this cause any problems, obviously there is a bit less room in the back because of the LPG tank, but does it cause and reliability issues or running problems.

I have accepted that the fuel consumption will be quite a lot because it is quite a large engine, but how bad is it, and will they get a similar MPG figure on LPG.

Thanks.

Your MPG will be less with LPG, but it's a **** sight cheaper....................at the mo'!

How much are you looking to spend?

Dun't ask me tho', I'm a big V8 fan so I'd be totally biarsed. Why do you want a V8?

I want a fun car, and I figured a v8 would be more fun than a diesel.

I'm looking to spend around £3000, I don't expect anything special or immaculate bodywork, I'm just looking for something that's mechanically sound that I can go for an off-road thrash when I feel like it.

What kind of MPG are you getting with your V8?

v8s are good fun my mates got one and it certainly has the power offroad but they dont like the water he always drives round what i go thru, and he always semms to be tinkering with it.but its like everything it depends what you want to do with it and where you want to go with it.theres pros and cons to diesals and petrols its down to your own preference

I test drove one that had an electronic ignition kit fitted, and a good LPG kit also. Started on gas every time, sounded the monkeys chunkies, drove REALLY well, quick, loadsa power, nice sound, really nice.

I hate fecking insurance companies.

Yeah, the noise they make is quite attracting to me.

My mate is just putting a 200tdi in his 90, I went in it with him before he started the conversion, his was only a 2.25 diesel and it was quite slow but it got me interested in a Land Rover. He's nearly finished it now, so I'll ask to go out in it again, obviously the V8 will be quite lively but how much difference will there be between a V8 and a 200tdi, because the V8 looks fun, but I have been told the 200tdi is mega reliable and quite powerful.
