Land Rover Discovery XS V8i Automatic. LPG Conversion.
12 months MOT until 12th June 2012
Very Low mileage 98,341
No Reserve!
Full Service history up to 46,258 miles (Sept 1998); Paperwork relating to work carried out from time I bought the vehicle available, which was 12 years ago at 47,040 miles.
Bodywork good condition for a vehicle of this age, except for one scratch (approx. 4", shown in photo no. 7) and some minor ones. Note that this is not the boring metallic finish red used on so many Discoveries, but is the bold and bright, eye-catching Fire Engine Red. Minor rusting to load bay floor, also to rear bumper (shown in photo no. 8). Also see MOT Advisory below.
Rear Step gas-strut missing so does not return to raised position.
Interior good condition, no tears or rips in Upholstery or Head-lining, both Sunroofs open smoothly and do not leak. Air Conditioning fitted in May 2002 very effective system.
LPG conversion carried out in August 1999 shortly after I bought the vehicle and it has since covered about 50,000 miles running almost exclusively on Gas. In 2008 at approx 95,000 miles the LPG system was upgraded to the "Leonardo" system incorporating the latest safety and performance features. Running on LPG has saved approx. £4,000 above the cost of the conversion and later upgrade, and reduced pollution significantly.
In case you are not familiar with LPG-powered vehicles, the Discovery starts on petrol then automatically switches over to Gas the first time approx. 1,000 rpm is reached this is usually by blipping the throttle after starting. At any time you can swap between Petrol or LPG at the flick of a switch, while driving. There is an over-ride available to allow starting on LPG if youve run out of petrol, again from the drivers seat. Switch shown lower right in photo no. 5.
The car starts and runs smoothly. It has been off the road since March 2009 and kept in my garage as a hobby, so although it has a full 12 months MOT it is not presently taxed. After starting, the SRS indicator remains on which could indicate a fault with the twin airbag system; this did not affect the MOT. The lack of recent mileage probably accounts for the rusty rear discs advised during the MOT. The oil leak mentioned is very slight to the extent that I cannot discover where its coming from.
New Laserline 291 Insurance-approved alarm/immobiliser fitted in July 2005 following problems with the standard Land Rover immobiliser. This fixed the problem and has worked satisfactorily since. Rear offside door lock can however be sluggish to operate (usually caused by a weak spring in the lock mechanism).
Vehicle fitted with fully working Land Rover Mid-Line Radio, which features four door speakers plus Sub-Woofer unit mounted on Tailgate. Radio code available.
Land Rover Tow Bar assembly fitted includes double socket but caravan socket not used or tested by me. Free number plate for your trailer etc included!
Five good tyres fitted, on Land Rover Alloy wheels.
Battery good, has been kept charged regularly during time in garage.

Pair of Land Rover Driving Lights included, removed during recent overhaul as reflectors corroded. I think standard reflectors could be fitted in the units if required; mountings still fitted to front of vehicle.
