What will it tow?

Partly I agree on that, but towing a 2 ton trailer means a speed limit of 80 km/h aniway. So, the same restrictions as lorries on highways over here. When driving a series, you need to anticipate with the restrictions of your vehicle, the same as anyone else driving non-standard vehicles. Driving a Porsche behind almost every average car can be very annoying, from that point of view... :5btoetap05:

I assume these 'ratings' are manufacturer stats. Yep the engine and brakes may cope but stability is another issue altogether. If you're pointing downhill on a motorway at 50mph, things can easily and quickly go wrong with a trailer that heavy trying to overtake you.

I used tot live in the German Eifel for some years, but a friend of mine and his fancy landcruiser had more trouble not being overtaken by his trailer, than me with the old lady. I think one of the reasons is, that modern drivers are lacking skills to cope with basic tasks like towing or other exceptional conditions.

Go on you'll be fine...

I have pulled a trailer full of new house bricks (approx. 2 tons) in my 88" with few problems. So long as you remember to brake early. I also pulled a boat in a big trailer - but the trailer itself was braked and helped slow me down

That was what I had albeit a Perkins 4203, then a 3.5 V8

I recall buying some new front shoes at PRBs in Leeds while a chap was buying some 10" shoes for his 88, He was gob smacked at the size of them.

Mine was a 1969 IIa it even had single circuit servo assisted brakes. Even Jack couldnt believe it.

Trailers are often kept in bad maintenance. Wrong or uneven tyre pressure, fawlty suspension, wrong load balance etc. These are the major reasons a trailor is wobbling or trying to overtake the towing vehicle. A good maintenanced trailor follows the leader
