Helicoil can be used very effectively, but do a search on google / ebay for thread repair kit. If you type helicoil, you'll get genuine helicoil kit, which tends to be expensive. I bought a repair set off Ebay to do a patriot roof rack (Steel-Aluminium corrosion) and it worked perfectly.
