Just been offered a good 200TDi engine from a Defender at the same price as a head gasket and cambelt:eek: the man must be mad but hey ;)

Now the 300tdi that I put in the 90 along with R380 and Disco TB wont run without missing and smoke so I intend to take it out put the Defender 200 in that.

Shall I leave the boxes in and just swap the engines

or use the good LT77 and Disco TB that I took out earlier and bolt it to the Defender 200 engine an drop that in ??

Then I'll have a 90 with 200tdi and LT77 with Disco TB

or

90 with 200tdi and R380 and Disco TB.

Going to start it at the weekend.:)

the reason for is 200 sits better with all pipe work etc at rear of engine bay 3oo at front

They both sit in the same place and all pipes except exhaust are no problem.
I'll have to buy a downpipe for the 200 as I binned the old one yesterday:rolleyes:

no they dont as std and is best to put as was by factory if not only that it use std parts is 77 def or disco is 90 still std 1990 in tunnel floor plates etc

Yes mine do ..:)

300 with R380 from Disco sits in heggsakly the same place as the Disco 200 with LT77 that I took out.

So no engine mounts to change as I made one for the 300 so as it used the 200 chassis mounts:)

Just wondering which was the best combination though..OHHH and with the 300 turbo go on the 200tdi?

so yours isnt def lt77 with short bell housing then, if not putting in right place as most parts dont allow that then just fit on r380 as is now

The Lt77 Disco box was in the 90 behind a sick 200tdi. and it sat well forward so all the pipes fit from the old 19J engine after lowering and moving back slightly the rad mounts.

The 300 and R380 just dropped in the same place.

So the ''new'' 200 and Disco lt77 will drop in where the 300 was.

just a matter of choosing gearboxes really :)

dont understand completely ,but normaly 200 in defender like 19j sit at back of engine bay with short bell housing box, 300 sits forward as in disco with long bell housing box plus about 50mm meaning 300 has different tunnel than 200 and 19j ,disco lt77 is same length as r380 for defender or disco

we took 19J and box boxes out last year and binned them.

Put in a 200tdi disco engine and both disco boxes. ( lt77 and 1.2 transfer box.)
this set up put 200 in more or less same place as 19J as all pipes nearly fitted, just had to move rad back 2" and lower it

200 went poorly so took 200 / lt77 and 1.2 tb out

and replaced with Disco 300 R380 and 1.2 tb which sat in same place as 200 did.

does that make any sense?:)

alright landowner...

are both boxes in as good nick as each other?

Sounds like your having as much fun with engines as I normally do...

Boydyeeeee, where have you been mate, not studyin I'll bet.:)

missed a few good track days, soz meant to ask if you were goin, have you got that car done yet?

I'm goin to put the lt77 in because it'll save work and it's only done 100k and I have the service records for it and I've driven it so makes sense I think. Can always sell the R380 and 1.2 tb for a few bob on fleabay.:D

Take care mate

And, im afraid, im no longer a bangorite! As of last month I am now fully degreed up, and no longer a north wales resident... start my propper job in sept.

nearly found you an owner for your 1.2 tranny box but my mate has already bought himself one... :S never mind.
