What to buy??

Don't have a pile of money to spend but I'm after a Landrover for commuting to work and some off road fun.

Obviously I can't stretch to a Defender so i was thinking either Series 3 2.25 petrol, Disco 300 TDi or V8. Discos seem to be cheap now - is this the way forward? Capable off road yet still useable

What would you buy? Pros, cons etc.

I love the shape of the series 3 but can't help thinking that i'll hate it for light daily use.

It really is a matter of personal preference. I personally think you'd be better off with a disco, but there are also jappy 4x4 that are capable off road & comfortable on road.

i use my disco for off road, greenlaning and for work thats what i love about it does all 3 superbly

av got a 200tdi 3 door disco fa sale,mot till next year,nice tidy motor,£800ono.

keep saving for another few years and buy 200tdi defender cheaper in the long run

i have a 200 tdi,see if you can find a good one....

v8 disco! if you can afford the petrol or get one thats already gassed

i have a discovery 300 tdi that has had ALL rot cut out and new panels welded in through out ! this might be up for sale some time soon. the whole rebuild is posted on another site if ya wanna have a look at the extent of the work thats gone into it.

Not sure I'd recommend a Series 3 as a daily commuter. They're thirsty, slow and not very comfortable, although great fun!

Could have been worse he normally spouts on about gaylanders.
Id say get a dizzy or a classic.Cheap enough to ruin, but still carishenough to drive.S3 great fun but not on the m62.
