After driving all the way from Exeter to Kidderminster to buyer an 'excellent' series 2a, that, surprise surprise, turned out to be a well-photographed dog in dog's clothing, I found somthing interesting just a couple of miles form home...
I know that it's a '71 Lightweight that was rebuilt on a new chassis in '98, fitted with an SD1 V8 with s/s manifolds and pipe, heavy duty springs/shocks and has covered 4k miles since then, but I'm not sure what series it is and would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.
Points of note which I'm lead to believe can give a clue, but seem to confurse me even more are :
No synchro in 1st or 2nd
Lights in wings rather than grill panel
twin tank fuel tap on seat box
blade type windscreen hinges rather the boxey type
Plastic 'switch' type window locks.
Chassis number 23600066A
By the way, the chap says that he hadn't cleaned or polished it since it was done and after a good wash and some new seat bases it looks rather good, apart from a few patches on the bulkhead.
