what the hell are these cables for?

just removed the middle seat of the defender to have a look at how i can attach a cubby box, and discovered a bunch of 5 wires coming through the panel underneath.
can anyone tell me what there for?

By the looks of it, somebodies already had a cubby box fitted and had a radio in it anaw. Ah take it them holes on the lid were already there?

Dunno if they're brass or not, kinda hard tae tell... but it's the 4 that's got the serated tops in a bit from the screws

They were put there because somebody had already stuck a cubby box in before you had the motor

also i know the pics aint the best, but is it possible for someone to tell me what each of the cables is for.

2nd and 3rd pic is yer radio connectors (some radios have one connector and some have two). The fuse might be for the radio anaw but could be for the other things. Not sure about the other one tho'.

At a guess I'd say it's been an ex works van with some sort of Comms or diagostic machinery fitted where the center seat should be. It's possible but unlikely to be a normal radio. I suppose it could be a cd changer or similar.

Just done a quick search and Buster may not have been wrong

The white plug in this link is the original LR radio socket and looks very much like the one in your pictures. Car Audio Direct - Land Rover wiring adaptor - Fitting Adaptor
