Er, an ex-army LR?
FFR means 'fitted for radio'.They had a radio operator sat in the back,
and preumably it had quite a large radio unit fitted in there, as well as
other electronic equipment.

I see!!!!! I didn't realise, what would a decent price be - even though it needs re-painting?

Well the reserve is £650.
A 'good' MOT'd LWB will fetch between £500 and £1200.
I think I actually paid just £250 for mine, and that had an over drive,
which is probably a bit more useful than a 3.5Kwh alternator on the PTO!
Personally, I wouldn't go beyond reserve price, if that, unless I'd seen it,
checked it over and was sure it was pretty useful.

A Land Rover :)

seriosuly, like they said, it's a 24V FFR, based on the description. If
you're bothered about originality, it's not got its antenna mounts and
antennae, but that's only a problem if you plan on showing it.

I've just been googling for images, but not really found any. I rather
thought that at least some of the 109 FFRs had front wing antennae, but I
also found pictures of an Aussie one which has 4 on the back half of the
vehicle.

more to the point, being as it's a 24V one, there are a lot of 24V electrics
which are specific to it, including the monster alternator, which can make
the spares position more tricky.

I t would originally have had a pair (I think) of sod-off radios in the
back, powered from that 30V supply he mentions.
