What size/rating cable?

Going down the route of 2 batteries, and I was wondering what would be the best cable to use for:
(+)&(-) to Slave battery
Slave Battery to distribution block
Dis block to Winch
Dis block to Fuses>relays>switches>spots

Between Battery & dis block will be an isolator switch and between dis block & winch there will be an isolator

Between batteries AWG4 is good.

Anything connected to the winch needs to be AWG2 or AWG0 depending on how monster your winch is.

AWG4 would be a good idea to go to your distribution block for the rest of your accessories, seeing as you will have already bought some 4.

I would heavily recommend going direct to secondary battery with the AWG2 winch cable, through a 200 amp minimum isolator on the positive cable. Keep the cable run as short as possible and with as few interruptions as possible.

Cheers.

You need to start doing your own sums!

Watts divided by Volts = Amps.

We will say that volts is 12 to be on the safe side. When the car is running the voltage will be about 13.6 so the current will be lower. However:

A 4x 55w light bar is 220 watt. So

220/12= 18.3

So buy some cable that can handle about 25/27 amps and fuse them at 20amps.

That way nothing will get too hot or too unsafe.

If you can find a cable rating chart online, it will tell you what AWG cable can flow what current over what length. For instance a cable can carry a maximum current over a maximum length, the longer the cable the thicker it need to be for the same current.

Hope that helps.
