What size are the head bolts?

I am preparing to replace head gaskets on my 3.9 v8 and want to be sure I have all the right tools ready.

What size are the head bolts? M14, M17 or....?

Don't worry, I think I found the answer elsewhere: 5/8 or preferably 16mm

Can't remember off hand but a standard socket set will be sufficient for the head bolts. Make sure you have a short extension bar and a good torque wrench though.

Make sure you have deep (long) sockets too, particularly for the back off the engine where a short extension can be too long.

I bought a deep single hex 16mm socket - worked well. I have just dropped the heads off for surfacing....hard work, but I got all the bolts out without any serious mishap.

What size are the head bolts?
