What MPG do you get from your Flander

I get about 25 MPG, I think thats crap, what do you get? and can I do anything to increase it? apart from drive slower which isn't going to happen, thanks for reading.:mil16:

your tyre choice will affect mpg and any unnessary junk in the boot will add weight.

42.4 mpg from my series 1, 2ltr L series. Checked it a few times because I was surprised.
Comes back more or less the same every time.

About 30-32 initially on my Td4, mixed use including some motorway runs, Risen to 37-38 since fitting a Synergy2 and new MAF.
The improvement will take some time to pay for the upgrade but my primary reason was to lift the torque when towing.

Sorry should have said what I have, its a auto TD4 Freeby 1, I had a manual before and that only did about 28 MPG.

How much we talkin? can you do it yourself?

Hi there, yes you can do it yourself...
you only need to remove the top engine cover and the air filter cover to fit it..

If you buy one direct from Tuning-diesels.com (which is the guy that built and designed it and very knowledgeable, it'll also come with a 3 year warranty) it'll cost you £247 for both the Synergy and the Pierburg MAF (but when you consider a new Bosch MAF alone is nearly £200) its a bargain.. as you can use the pierburg MAF from then on at only £68 a go and you get the power/torque increase from the Synergy too...
I fitted one to mine as soon as I bought the car nearly as I had a synergy on my old Rover 75 and it did wonders to that...

there is a member on here with a Synergy 2 and a MAF for sale if he still has it... I bought my EGR bypass from him, as you will see from my posts I just bought my Synergy before I saw his post and I paid £150 for mine 2nd hand with no MAF...
he only wants £145 INCLUDING the Maf

My auto is generally around the 30-32mpg in a mixture of town & motorway, with around 40mpg on a run. Worst case scenario was 26-27 town only during winter mostly stuck at lights.
I've got the roverron synergy, egr bypass fitted, also regularly service the car (particularly frequently changing the crankcase breather filter) & using fully synthetic engine oil every 8k miles. I also run with Millers powersport 4 diesel additive at double the stated dosage though I believe this has been replaced with a newer formula. All this should see a reasonable improvement in economy for you like it did for me.

im getting about 28 mpg on my td4 auto. was in dire need of service tho and have replaced crank case filter with the plastic one from bmw, so hoping to see an improvement now, would like 32-34 really

TD4 auto - 27 local, 34 max on recent run (Sheffield to Glasgow) - about 430 on tank. Once got 35 MPG on a run to London. Improves slightly in warmer weather.

I also use Millers 4 every tank.

It runs great so not sure if any probs - wondered about changing MAF but if aint broke...

Higher fuel prices always seem to make it "seem" worse.

Now my 18 tonne Iveco - thats thirsty

Freelander 1 v6 petrol 18mpg normal. 28mpg at a steady 60mph on the motorway.

A Freeby may be lightweight in LR terms but compared to a Fiesta its still a bit of a tank. It don't take much of a lead foot to do great damage to the MPG. My higher numbers are much more the chaufeur driving than boy racer.

TD4 ES manual 5 door 112000 miles 33m.p.g. around doors 40+m.p.g. on motorway 26-28 m.p.g. with van on the back. Thats with a remap and EGR bypass

Thanks for your continued response, there are some varied results, think i will try the crank case filter thing and see if that does anything, not that long been serviced so that should be ok. Just read up on the EGR, think I will leave that for another day, week or year! it sound a bit complicated, well maybe not I just cant be arsed. Thanks agian.

I was getting around 34MPG in my L series. Last weekend I removed the Tunit II box. The fuel gauge must be stuck now, or its using no fuel, I get back to you on the figures I'm now getting but it might take a few weeks.

Just done a round trip to edinburgh from wakefield (Just south of Leeds) monday to wednesday this week in my 2004 TD4 and still have just under a 1/4 of a tank left and done 510 miles..

That was with 4 adults and 2 suitcases

A1 on way up and A74/M74, A66 over north Lakes to Scotch Corner and back down A1 Home...

Was doing 65 to 70 ish (cough cough... ) all way.

Not filled it back up to brim yet to see what I got but over all I was pretty impressed..
I've just done the Crank Breather and EGR Bypass last week and am running Synergy 2 on 10 with a double helping of Millers for good measure too...
Not sure if that all helped, but it can't have hurt.
