drove it today quite a nice route combined with several other little trecks in the area:D ,, finished at fox house swift half:p then drove home, well almost quick fix of alternator after tensioner bolt fell off couple of cable ties and we made it home squeal squeal squeal:mad:
but secound weekend of green laning and im loving it
just the maps are so confusing:confused: we found a route advised by a local that is shown as a footpath with public access but was a definate track used by motor vehicles including farm vehicles

combined maps with nav night before found a few nice sections and combined them with a stop for lunch routes with red dots are they usable ??????
who do i contact for restrictions only used one route with the red dots nobody panic im not out to upset any other users of these lanes

Bernard, you seem to be having a blast laning. Have you had a good read of Green Lane Association Ltd. - Home

I would really recommend you do. If you like what they do, join, it's only £30 & they do a lot of good to keep our hobby possible.

Be really careful. If you're using 1:50000 maps ++++++++++++ is basically all you can legally drive. You might find it easier changing to the 1:25000 maps & looking for ++++++++++ They are generally easier to read & you're less likely to get it wrong & hack people off.

will join glass,,, going to contact roads and highways enforcment do they provide a list or a map of boats ?????
having lots of slow fun marcus but a few times i was oooeeerrr i wish i was with another vehicle as in oooooooeeeeer please dont breakdown
maps from os yes

The TOSSERS usually have a few hairy moments each time we go laning, or fording. You really are pushing your luck going out alone, there will come a time........!

Your local rights of way officer will have 'the definitive map' You can pour over it & compare it to your own & mark yours with any lanes subject to TRO's or impassable. ROW Officers are usually really pleased to talk to responsible laners & are good people to stay in with.

Laning is supposed to be slow fun so don't worry. Do you take any recovery equipment with you?

large box of nuts bolts wire connectors ropes fluids but no means of towing ...... im on mi own ...... oh yes m8 n mi dad in car to push...
minor breakdown not a problem but a mechanical failure is a worry

It's getting yerself stuck that'll stuff yer up. No recovery company will touch you. Any nearby farmer will delight in stinging you big time fer a tow IF you can find one.

Speaking to a geezer the other week who got his Disco stuck laning on his own. Had to walk miles home & by the time he managed to get a mate with a 4X4 to go back with him the following day his motor had been turned over onto it's roof so the feckers could nick the wheels.................the steering guard, diff guards.............er, anything they could unbolt basically! 'Pparently you could see where they'd driven through a hedge to attach strops to tow or winch it over onto it's roof.

Be warned there's a lot of low lifes out there who'd delight in finding your motor stuck in a lane miles from anyone & anywhere!
