What is this wire? 110pu TD5

I found a wire resting on the bell housing of my car but couldn't find where it goes. I did remove the airbox and all to look properly but to no luck. Seems like it came out of a grip since it has the seal on it.

Would anyone know where it goes? The color is pale white with a maroon stripe on it. Its a Defender TD5 110 Pickup 2001.

is the wire white with red stripe or white with purple stripe as there is no maroon on electrical drawings ive got

White with red I guess.... the red has probably faded.

well the only white with red i can find on the circuit drawing is from the ignition relay to the starter motor, but if that wasnt connected you wouldnt be able to start the car

1. the cigar lighter is working on your car?
2. do you see the oil pressure warning on self check?

are there anu improvisations known by you made on some circuits there... or is there something which doesnt work?

Cigar lighter works.
Oil pressure warning light lights up when I turn the ignition on and goes out when I start the engine.

No modifications on my car and no improvisations... history of the car is known since I bought it new.

All seems to work fine and no waning lights.

then based on the diagrams i can't figure out what that wire is...did you try to measure on it to see what's there, earth, ignition live, or what

i'll bet it's white/brown. Should go to your oil pressure switch. I just opened the hood and looked. I have the same wire splitting off, going to the plug of the pressure switch. There is only one wire going to it.

Here's a photo of mine. I have a madman, so it's in a different location.

The stock location is just under the coolant hose on the nearside of the engine. Should be a conical shaped brass thing, with the plug attached to it.

That's the only single wire with a covering 'T'd off a larger bundle, I could find on the rear of the engine.

Or it fell out of the multi-plug, between the engine harness to bulkhead and bulkhead to chassis harness.

that's why i asked the man about the oil pressure light

Okay so after checking in detail, the oil pressure light on the cluster does not come on.

Earlier when I said that it did come on and it goes out when the car is started, I asked my brother and he said that it did but now when I checked for myself; it doesn't.

Secondly,

My car does not have the oil pressure sensor where you have it in the pic. I don't have anything there...?? I have been scratching my head for a while now.

Could it be that my car is a different model and has the sensor elsewhere? Its a 2001 110CCPU TD5 with 10p engine. I will upload a picture shortly.

That is why I said my pressure switch is in a different location I had to move mine, as I have a MadMan gauge. The switch/sensor, is the conical looking dark brownish thing.

I wonder if the plug is still attached to your switch.

Now go back and read my post about the nearside, to find your oil pressure sensor location.

Sorry totally missed this message. I found the switch and its sorted. Thanks alot every one.

see attachment to see where the oil pressure switch is on a Td5... to check put ifnition on and touch that wire to earth and if the oil light comes on then that's it...or if a fuse will blow we'll know what's it as well
