They the insureds insurance company who have admitted liability must pay all and any reasonable costs you incure until the claim has been finally settled.
So anything you would have normally done your self and now have to pay some one else todo on your behalf you can claim for. I have compiled a short list
1. cleaner
2. Gardener
3. Mechanic
4. Painter and decorator

Getting the idea !!!!
Taxi bills when you cannot drive your self all these things add up speak to your solicitor regarding this im surprised they havnt informed you of this i would personnelly make a complaint at there firm if they have failed to tell you of this which i suspect is the case
Good luck buddy.

The problem with this is the insurance company may want proof of payment to cleaner, gardener, mechanic etc. And these people want paying up front not later when the Compo comes through. I don't think Doo can afford to pay for these services up front.

No but is more than reasonable to get advanced payments for such services as required his solicitor rearlly should be doing more

I don't know anything about Doo's solicitor, but I have known three people use these no win no fee law firms and judging by their performance, I believe they are in cahoots with the insurance companies.

I have had several dealing with solicitors over the years which is why i chose to sue pc world my self via small claims and won.
It is not in the solicitors interest to resolve doos case quickly once it is over his the solicitors income stream ends from doos case. Solicitors are know by there own staff as "fee earners" for a reason every letter every minute spent earns them money.

Your solicitor works for you instruct him to settle the claim or issues court action and let a judge do it.
Services yes they have to pay for things you can no longer do soooooo youe entililed to additional further ongoing payments.

Gutted, when my mate heard it will take up to 22hrs work total to strip the gear stuff & front bits to change the seals, he almost shat his pants

He can't commit to what could amount to 3 days ramp time for one vehicle as his is a busy garage, the bread & butter jobs are on & off the ramp in a couple of hours. He's a one man operation so I totally get his reticence, but what a bummer :(

Now I'll have to put it somewhere I may not want to as I can't tell they will actually do the job either well or at all. o_O

Looks like I will need to speak to Hamish.... He's excellent, but booked out til 2019

There is one more guy I trust to do the job, but he's super expensive as he meticulously strips the parts and cleans everything, replacing anything dodgy before the rebuild.

Woe is me :(:confused:o_O

I don't know the answer but they reckon changing an a/c compressor on a freelander is 5 hours so a gearbox and oil seals must be two or three days.

Col

I'd go along with that. Never done the front seal but everything has to come off at the back to get to the rear one. If you've done it a few times then a day is probably possible. I'd budget 2 days for the rear one though as there's a hell of a lot to come off. Quicker if there are 2 of you, I'd guess. So call it 10 - 12 hours for each one.
