Lancaster insurance asked for 6 photo's of my 90 / Defender. it's a 1990 with a 300TDI and R380 box. Rebuilt in 2009. It has a similar spec to the OP's.

They valued it at £9500.

That's more than twice what I paid for it.

I suspect they mistakenly added a trailing zero to their valuation

What insurance company you with?

I valued my 1992 90 at £4000 as its all stock when i picked it up. Adding to it as i go.

How i see it is that insurance companys will pay out what they say book price is worth and if you have proof of value of the extras they will make a offer on them.
I think they just up the policy price if you have more bits on the car because its more likely to be nicked. When ever i have had wheels or other bits and bobs on my cars in the past, i have told the insurance that i'd not want them replaced. That way they know about the parts and i dont pay over the odd's to insure it.
