It's insurance time of the year again and I never know how to answer this question, so I'll throw it open to the floor.

1980 ex army 109 FFR. Very solid condition, no rust at all on the bulkhead or chassis, lots of new bits in the last year, including leaf springs and shocks, full exhaust, both front knuckle end joints, Weber carb, coil, wiper motor, brake and clutch master and slave cylinders, brake pipes, tyres and seat bases. Currently undergoing a full camo respray. I have no intention of selling her whatsoever, but I guess I ought to give the insurance company a half accurate reply!

From my experience the value you give them means nothing - on pay out they'll assess the vehicle + market value and make you an offer (normally substationally lower than the market value)

yeah i'd say about £1500
real noob question, kind of not related though
is it me or are lwb models considerably cheaper than swb (eg same condtion ect)
because i'm currently on the hunt for a series 2a and it always seems that the 109's are always cheaper than swb

I would guess its because swb models are better off road (less lightly to ground out) and thats prob why they are slightly more sort after, hence the higher price....

when i was hunting for insurance for a motor vehicle, i couldnt put a price on my vehicle, so i asked them what it was valued at, dont know, cant answer that etc. problem is they are just sales people and the people who deal with replacing etc are another department totally seperate, the price you give does effect the quote (ie the more expensive adds money to the premium) but you have to be careful not to over value the vehicle as you will never get that money back, but undervalue and thats all you will get.
hope this helps.
