good afternoon,
my series leaks oil, lots and lots of it.
i bought it off a chap who neglected to tell me it leaks a pint a week, mostly from a cast iron plate at the back of the block , which is held on by three bolts with 7/16th head.
this is not mentioned in the manuals. i guess its the back of the cam. can you take it off? will there be a spring under it or something that will fall out?
anyone else had this problem?

I know what you mean and I know where it is, but whats in there I'm not sure:confused: ......... Looked at it on my '62 and it looks like it's gonna be a pig to remove...........engine out maybe ?????
