I have straps and ropes. all the straps are lifting straps rated at 2t SWL so 14tonne breaking strain. No one will ever produce the maths to show that this will ever be exceeded in a normal recovery scenario. I also have a 20ft length of nylon braided Ships Hawser approx 28/30mm thick which was purchased from a ships chandlers closing down sale. It is constructed in a similar fashion to a climbing rope and has a certain amount of elasticity built in. which absorbs the shock loadings of a tow out of mud etc. with out storing the energy the way a KERR does. And for really sticky moments I have a tirfor & Cable & a 20ft chain.
