Disco 1 What height hydraulic jack?

Ok, Advice please? I have been searching for a hydraulic trolley jack to lift my D1 onto axle stands, many that I have seen have a max lift to about 430mm, I havn't measured exactly by my front axle is about 400mm off the floor anyway. From a safety point of view, can I put the jack on a block and use it anyway or should I hold out for a higher lifting jack? If so, what sorts of heights are available to Jo Public as the normal sellers, Halfords etc only seem to provide for cars? Thanks in advance

I use a mercedes sprinter bottle jack off fleabay, cost around £35 quid. Chose a good supplier though.
I've stood a jack on a large block of wood, but of course would never climb under a motor without it being on stands.

I didnt know if the standard bottle jack should be used to lift the whole front end?

Shirley If you're using axle stands you would only lift one side at a time?

Massive no no on the safety stuff with the axle stands

No problem in lifting a side or end in one go with one of these, a bit expensive now, I only paid £88 in a Sealey promo 10 years ago. The greater the lifting weight the larger the foot print of the jack.
