What have you done to your Landie today.

Finally got rid of those pain-in-the-arse hockey sticks & front indicators and replaced them with a pair of Defender indicators which are simply screwed to the side of the headlight box section.
Looks good and works a treat.

Moved it to get the caravan in, bought loads of oil and stuff to change all fluids tomorrow .. and found that my tyre bashing last week had re-seated the tyres on the rims so no flat tyres after a week away ..

Good idea actually .. but I've never had mine come apart! I've had the headlamps push through 'cos the ball-cups were snapped off, but never the hockey sticks etc!

Mate, once they get walloped and knocked out - that's it. Game over.They never sit right again!!
I think it's to do with the fact that part of the bracket which holds the hockey sticks to the inner wing snaps and you're only left with the bottom pin to slot them together.

This is only part one of the solution and have a cunning plan which will be revealed soon once it's sorted and in place.

Yeah. A lot of friends have had theirs knocked through and just used tie-wraps or something .. I just haven't ever had an issue!

Now the bumper end-caps ...

I fixed the leaky sunroof on my Discovery 2 as per the excellent instructions on here.
The plastic pipe had broken off the drain pipe.

I then fixed the drivers door lock which had a broken shaft in it meaning the key did nothing. It is quite reassuring I have some chance of getting in if the remote fails to work.

got welding done and bought some tetroseal to paint chassis sunday

Seeing as the split charge was up and running, I thought I'd fit the new Auxiliary battery fusebox and tidy the wiring up a bit Chuffed with the result

Removed rear sides and rear tub, more corrosion and bits disintegrated (what a surprise). Found replacement bulkhead. Started to work out how to repair the tub. Need to choose a colour to start some paint work while waiting for replacement chassis. I'm favouring orange at the moment.

And when we got back I fitted the new drop arm ball joint.

I wanted to fit the joint without removing the drop arm and having heard some people have had trouble with this job I decided to splash out on the tool Paddocks sell for removing and refitting the upper seat.

£12.50+VAT seems quite a lot for what is essentially a nut, a bolt and three machined spacers but it does what it says on the tin, the spacers are exactly the right size rather than "nearly" which I guess could be the case using sockets and washers. The old seat came out easily and the new one went in OK but it did need a lot of force to get it in its correct position.

I used a bottle jack to compress the spring and the circlip popped in nicely. Probably the hardest part of the job was getting the larger of the two rubber boot retainers in place, why they can't use a garter spring as fitted to every other ball joint on the planet I don't know.

I've got a bathroom to plumb on Sunday (wages ) so I'll tackle the brakes on Monday.

Rewired all the lights on the front near side yesterday because someone had bodged it really badly at some point in the old girl's life and the side and indicator lights' wiring basically fell apart, blowing a fuse along the way

Washed and polished her today

recently bought my 3rd landy, prbelm with steering at speed after you go over a bump or even a cats eye would seet extreme wheel wobble going, had a look under today with gery the man in the know and spotted there is NO steering damper :s been on paddock now and just orderd a new one !

as its a seven seater, dearest grandad let his daughters & grandchildren use it as holiday transport to sarfend airport....

Just bagged a horse trailer camera off eBay, brand new still in box for a bargain price. Has a 7" monitor for the dash of the landy which can double up as a DvD player. Sorted!

Did a basic cad sketch of the brackets I need for fitting back seats in securely and in right position.
