Ah you noticed that dumb iron then?!lol...believe it or not she is actually structurally sound...that was one last bit I have left to do that I completely forgot about until I took the bumper off!
The rot is cut out just needs tidying up!

You can't hide a rust hole from a Landy owner, we're far to paranoid about rust for that.

Lol...I'm learning that very quickly! I find myself constantly looking for the first signs of holes...you never know when one will appear overnight!

I done some welding on the rear cassis the other month, took the hammer to everything to make sure I got it all, last week I found another small hole

Ha ha sneaky tin worm...doesn't help I live by the sea :-/ I found a little hole in downpipe earlier...:-(

Got some nice new tyres this afternoon.



I've gone for BFG All Terrain again, seeing as I had around 50,000 miles out of the last lot. The design has changed a little I see. If this lot last me another 50,000 miles I shall be happy. Bought via Blackcircles.com. Some other online sources are a bit cheaper, but then you've got to fit them and I'm not too happy about levers and lighter fuel. Plus tyre shops seem to want to charge quite a bit for fitting the customer's own tyres. I see the boys in the workshop have smeared plenty of sealant around generously. Everything smells of new tyres.

Cool tyres, me, I've done nothing today but enjoy the sun.

I've just had a weird experience. I was off to Wales to carry on building a retaining wall, and had got about as far as Burbage when the whole Land Rover started shaking. I put the hazards on and pulled in to the hard shoulder. Gentle experimentation in various gears revealed that the car wouldn't move under its own power. I thought at first my overdrive box had busted itself. I had a quick look underneath and the cause of the trouble became clear. It was a problem with the propshaft.



And at the other end:



The problem with the propshaft was an ontological one. It no longer existed. I popped it into difflock and drove home carefully. Before setting off I checked underneath carefully to see if the brake pipes had been damaged, but they were fine. I had a look back up the road to see if I'd caused any problems, but the crowded motorway was still moving at a steady 70 mph or so. Fortunately I had a spare so put that on and had a good look round underneath to check for any damage and set off again. I got to my destination without mishap this time.

I felt a bit like Vilguy, who keeps having these sorts of heroic mechanical failures. I can see how exciting it is.

I'm not quite sure how it started. It looks a bit like one of the (Britpart) yokes has broken up. It was very sudden. The joints felt fine when I checked them a week or so ago.

Went did the weekly shopping, then took the dog to Pembrey Country Park and back home again its raining now.

Changed one seat belt and got about half through the other, modifying the brackets took forever due to the seatbelt mounting brackets being made of the hardest 2mm of steel known to mankind and it eating drill bits (even non-cheap ones...)

Fitted new escutcheon surrounds and some snapsacs after sorting the central locking out (blown fuse...)

Been having some running issues with my 300tdi, today I tracked it down it the lift pump pulling in air, new one is on order.

I also noticed my rear diff is leaking, something else to sort.

Today (well Thursday actually), took the Disco to Peter Strong (near Reading) and had the fuel system checked - timing, turbo function, pump pressure and had the injectors removed, tested, tweaked (slightly low on pressure) and refitted.
Still not a chav burner, but for 233K miles, it is now running as good as it can . and the burble in the exhaust has now turned into a regular purr (sort of). .

Fitted a new Bias plate and welded the broken handbrake lever, should have taken a couple of hours but as per usual the pawl thingy jammed in the hand brake, the high low lever was seized so took a lot longer to do but its now like a new car so worth the £4.80 in parts.

I've got the MOT coming up on Thursday so I've given it a good clean underneath to make it easy for them, checked all the lights work and that the brake pipes are in good condition. I had a good wobble of the bearings, ball joints and bushes a couple of weeks ago, so they should be alright. Didn't stop my prop flying off, in post 28308 above, but one does what one can!

Gained some auxiliary lights (one spot, one fog) to bolt to the front. Had a bit of a play around figuring out where to mount them- there's existing holes in the bumper in a couple of places which would both work. Going to have the spot light on the right, wired to high beam, and the fog on the left on its own switch

Just been for my MOT and passed, fortunately. I was wondering how it would do on the smoke test because I've been noticing a puff or two in my passenger side mirror when pulling away from traffic lights. But if anything there is even less smoke than last year on the readout. Whilst waiting, I went to a cafe in town, and then to another one that was less busy. The cakes had their calorific content written on a little notice in front of each one. I consumed in excess of 2500 calories, so I had my entire adult recommended daily calorific intake in the form of cake before 9.00 in the morning. I feel great.

Removed the headlining ready for roof insulation and a lining retrim (plus addition of volumetric sensors and upgraded speakers). Also just whipped on a new momo tuner steering wheel. Laaaaverly.

I think this is supposed to be part of a policy to enable people to reduce their calorie intake, but I find it just encourages me. Ooh, that's 480 calories, that must be a good one.
