Got the new 3.9 camshaft, timing chain, camshaft gear and crankshaft gear installed and timed in. Got the timing cover on and bolts torqued down and then the 10 bolt cylinder heads on with tin gaskets. Bolts to be torqued down tomorrow. :D

interesting.
I`ve not touched a rover V8 lump since I had the heads of my long time gone P5B..

that had suffered petrol wash inside the engine, and had washed all the old oil deposits out into the yukkie thick sump..
think I used blue hylomar on the head gaskits both sides.
seemed to have worked as it went well after rebuilding the top end..
oh, and cleaned out the sump and oil strainer..

I have a spare sump from another V8. So I removed it and cleaned it inside and out. Painted the outside as well. Will be fitting that tomorrow once I've cleaned the oil pick up.

So the insides of this engine are pretty clean considering its been stripped to its block everything cleaned and scrubbed and things going on are either new or nice and clean. :D

Today I went to my trusty land rover man and picked up

Rear crossmember
Wiper blades
Bench seats
Fuel pick up
Fan to matrix hose
Hitch
Wing mirror
Halogen head lights

All for the princely sum of £80

Fitted the hose, amazing how much better the blower works, started to take up the floor to replace the reverse gate springs & tried to take the drivers door top off and snapped the metal bolt bit in the hole.

Replaced the 2 air springs on the back of the Disco 2. Old ones werent perished but have been on there 5 years and Im sure they were due to start leaking anytime and I dont want it to happen in the south of France with the caravan on the back this summer!
New fuel filter while I had the back wheels off.
Tomorrow - replacement steering box.

Removed my slow as hell ramsey winch to fit an 8274 but previous owner had welded an 8mm thick plate that he bolted winch to under front dumb irons along both edges on both edges of both dumb irons + along front + back edge of front cross member so having to cut it all out for my nice winch bumper

grrrr, taking forever

Put her in for an MOT.

and she passed, just an advisory on the rear brakes which are already on order.
Did the sills and front o/s prior to the MOT as these were an obvious fail.

I'm well pleased with my purchase

Met up with a few 110s after logging .

from down under by any chance?

got my dislocation cones to fit tomorrow was planning to get them on today but the scrap run and shopping took longer than expected so looking forward to having secure springs by tomorrow

I took my drivers side door top off yesterday to replace it but the bolt that goes through the bottom half has sheared off. I've tried drowning it in oil, heating it and I can't seem to touch it with a drill bit to get an extractor in.....trying to resist the urge to whack it until one of us caves in. Any one faced this before? Any tips?

Replaced rear hub seals then found out why they was leaking ( axle breather pipe had some how got caught on the exhaust and melted :(

then replaced the injector leak off pipes :)
