What have you done to your Landie today.

Sold a seat box and V8 bulkhead, front wing and some other bits

Fitted new rear discs and calipers to disco axle on 90

Found a knackered rear wheel bearing, its been stood a while and had water in it

Had a busy ish day on the 90 today from 11-5:30 I removed the front end and the engine and box amidst the torrential rain!

Then towed it back into its resting place with the Series one

But why?

I'll give you a clue..........

Got a 3.5 EFI with an autobox and Borg Warner transfer box, all with 36k genuine miles on the clock

May end up having to carb the bugger though!


Seller didn't include the MAF :doh: and theres none on ebay, sellers going to try and find it for next week though, if not it'll be carb time

I saw a dark stain on the tarmac spreading underneath and crawled under with a torch to see if I could see where it was coming from. Gearboxes? No. Fuel pipes? No. Bellhousing? Sump? No. Then I realised that it was rainwater from the light drizzle that had just started. Droplets were creeping along the edge of the bulkhead outrigger and dropping off in the middle. That was a mystery easily solved. I'd not seen it do that before, and I'm very attentive to stains forming underneath.

Bought some new (old) original land rover bulkhead rubber mats.

Ripped off the crazy land rover open cell foam! Seriously what a stupid idea, all it does is soak up water and sit there rusting away the bulkhead.

So all thats gone and replaced with some nice super dense closed cell foam which will not soak up water.

Going to be put back in with some of that heavy duty velcro keep it neat and easy to remove if needed.

Started stripping the paint off the spare door frames. got one half done & decided it's simpler to take em for shotblasting. Dropping em off in the morning. Got a bulkhead to strip but that'll be done with paintstripper & sander.

This is stage 1 in a complete rebuild of front doors & bulkhead.

Fitted my new CB

Made some more brake pipes to go from diff to rear callipers and fitted the diesel tank.
Painted the tank and brake pipes black

Call from the garage..beast ready to pick up. Damage...new cv joint, new hd drive flanges and two new front brake pads... £270

fitted my rear shock droppers today and found more holes behind the original shock mount oh well add it to my list of welding for my week off.
now I have the shocks dropped 2" am I at less risk of breaking them if I get some articulation as I have a 2" lift by springs and front +5 shocks but just saving the moolah to get the +5 rear shocks and I have purposely stayed clear of off roading to avoid breaking the standard rear shocks but I'm thinking I should be ok with the droppers as they are now in their normal position

Found some coolant when I removed plug number 4 to check colour











Strange thing is I've not lost any coolant.........and the engine seems to be running cooler now that I've put a proper exhaust on

Removed the baffles from the exhaust as they were rattling......its made it sound a bit **** without them so I'm going to clean them up and weld the bastards in tomorrow so they cant shake and rattle about
