Fitted clutch cowling gasket and crank oil seal then put engine and boxes together ready for painting tomorrow:)

Over the last few days I've been over to fanatics and we've fitted noo Rear discs, pads and bearings on my 110. Drove home ok but on driving into work to fit the noo tyres before going to my MOT I started getting a loud clunking from the offside rear. I'd left my 3/4 breaker bar, bearing drivers and hub nut socket with fanatic so had to give him a shout and ask him to fly over with them. Big thanks to Fanny to answering the call and dropping everything to come over. We eventually traced the clunking to the offside rear caliper having too much internal play and allowing the pads to rock as they caught on the grooves of the new discs.

The Landy flew through its MOT with just 3 advisories. One being the top shocker bushes. The other two being oil leak and body corrosion.

I've spent the last couple of nights bunging noo calipers on the rear and hopefully my knocking is now a thing of the past.

I'll find out for sure on Friday though. :eek:

Stripped, cleaned and fitted new pistons and seals to both front calipers and one rear. Last rear to do tomorrow and a bleed/fluid change
 
Bought some heavy duty drive flanges and a new wheel bearing for the back. The bolts holding the drivers side drive flange on are seized and one of the heads has snapped off.

I can get 2 out, kinda hoping its the shank that has seized and I can just tap the drive flange off and undo the rest of the bolt with a pair of mole grips.

Just got mine back from my local Landy guy garage, Had a new clutch fitted and all the seals on the transfer box replaced. He replaced all the oils in both the gear box and transfer box, I bought the clutch and gasket set he supplied everything else oils etc. Charged me 350 Euro which is about £280 for all the work. Plus he replaced a rubber pipe on the fuel line I think going onto the turbo unit which he said looked perished.
 
Put me engine back in:)

Just brought it onto the yard, opened the bonnet ... had a look ... smelled dinner being cooked ...




Was going to change oil and fuel filter and do an oil change, but cba now, so I'll do it tomorrow ... ;)

It's a bit bright mind, Should be ok when fitted though.

Question for you actually, Seen as you've painted your engine.
Did you lacquer it?
Not sure if it'd be of benefit or not.

just enamel paint, stays good, I used to paint mini engines with it years ago, you only need high temp stuff for the exhaust manifold.
Lacquer not really needed as paint is high gloss anyway:)

Yep painted the manifold with high temp stuff the other day.

Yeah this is direct gloss. I wasn't sure if lacquer would offer more protection against oil/fuel spills.

Used to use emulsion paint for manifolds years ago, it doesn't burn off :cool:
 
Made this, not my best effort, but hides mad max wires, back bit either remade or tidied up and covered
