Dam, and I had something stuck in my pocket wasn't doing anything else

washed it and found water ****ing in from somewhere behind the dash, kind of explains my wet footwell a bit better.....so best start stripping me dash down to sort it!

finally finished welding the chassis now to start wire brushing it ready for priming

RAC fella told my dads mate that it was the tank fuel pump. £270 of genuine pump later, still the same, and no fault codes showing up. Wouldn't trust a TD5 as far as I could throw it.
My dad and I are going to a motorbike show this weekend, 200miles round trip, I can rely on my 200tdi getting us there, but wouldn't trust a TD5 after that.

That's electronics for ya. Good old fashioned diesel any day.

changed oil in front & rear diffs, I changed filler plug to a nice brass one at the same time as well.

Changed oil filters and changed engine oil.
Ran out of time, so will be doing gear & transfer box soon as well.

Got my Modulars and new all terrain tyres on

Repainted the rear cross member.

finished repairng the front part of the o/s sill will tackle the rear inner arch tomorow.but now :tea::tea:and lots of it

Prepped my roof bar and spotlights ready for Tuesday, when she goes to the auto electricians! Emptied a carrier bag of mud from under the tow bar, and treated it to a lick of paint! Looks much better! :tea:
Also re-positioned my external temperature sensor so hopefully it'll be more accurate!

Had my first go at doing the wheel bearings
Managed to get the front ones done, have to leave the rears for next weekend.

Not too bad of a job once I managed to figure out how to get the calipers off along with the brake pipe bracket. Everything was hidden under 2 inches of mud.

always pressure wash before working on it - yu can see the probs easier.

Yeah and the bolt heads lol.

Morning all. Drove mine after fitting a new clutch Friday and sat .

Had a bit of trouble starting it this mornin. Though, the starter relay clicked when I turned the key to 3rd position. But the starter motor didn't turn over or anything like that. Was thinking one of the switches in the relay has worn? Took me a while to get it then over, turned it on and off until it went.

Also noticed that where I hadn't taken the negative off the battery, as we pulled the gear box away it was sparking on the chassis (don't think any wires were attached to the box at this point). Don't know if the two problems are linked at all but anyone have any idea what it could be? Cheers

Check the earths

When you moved gearbox did you take off the chassis earth?? on the chassis front crossmember bolt.
With a bad earth it will struggle to start or not at all.
I made this mistake when I took my gearbox out I forgot to put the earth back on the chassis. It started once but struggled then switched it off and tried to start again and nothing.. Soon realised the earth wasn't attched

Ooo ok I shall have a look at that! I didn't take the mount of. Someone who works next door to me who was a mechanic did it. I wouldn't be confident enough to do allll that! but I shall have a look for any dangling wires is it on near side or far side of gearbox?

Far side (passengers), will be on one if the two top bolts that go through the crossmember into the chassis if I remember!! Is the same size cable as used on the battery. Would go out take a pic but it's rather wet

Tried by passing it with a jump lead to engine bay. Get the starter click and relay but won't turn over. Though motor may be stuck so gave it a tap. Nothing, did notice sparks coming off it though when I tapped it with something metal. Bit odd

Finished pulling bits off mine now. Paint needs a bloody good flat back and the rest of the dings want filled in, then its paint time. MOT is in a week......
