if you check the level when its just been ran, some oil will still be flowing down so it will show lower that it should

Yes, didn't think Id get the tub to line up again without it. Makes it a bit easier than trying to measure things up.

Yup, it takes about 15 minutes to stabilise in my case. Even so, it has the knack of hiding about half a litre of oil and then re-materialising it a day or two later. I suppose if it goes steadily one direction or other over a period of time I might have problems. So I'll keep an eye on it.

Yes, I wonder about all the clever people on here who hack pieces off a completely naked chassis and weld new pieces on and everything lines up perfectly. Surely someone must make a mistake with the measurements occasionally?

today I have mostly learnt the hard way that the electric seat switches on my '98 300tdi Disco contain lots of fiddly little parts!
Fortunately I decided to take the switch pack inside and sit at the desk to try and see if I could get it to work! Opened the casing and it all fell out - took me a while to fathom out just how it all goes!
Cleaned all the contacts inside, put it all back together again with a bit of trial and a lot of error and now I have fully working electric seats again! It was starting to get a bit awkward - I kept catching the switches and moving the seat, The problem then being that the switches only worked in one direction so I would eventually end up with the back of the seat really high and the front really low!
Oh... and booked him in for an MOT for tuesday.....fingers crossed!

Fitted winch all on my own (still doesn't work) n fitted my gutter mount fit aerial in my lunch break n low n behold aerial sticks out at an angle! Now gotta get an adaptor or re fit it elsewhere

I'm still trying to identify why my 200 tdi is smoking. I have been told it could be the Turbo is warn and dripping oil into the engine or could be warn Valve guides. I always thought changing the valve guides required the Cylinder head removal but I have been told they can be changed without removing the head. Has anyone done this before?

Took off the transfer box sump plate and beat a nasty dink out of it so hopefully it won't leak....then spent the next 2 hours trying to get the exhaust downpipe off so I could weld it up before it fell off Ended up making up a new one

Me & Minty changed the sides on the 110 Now have windows in the back. Sides were tiger sealed onto the roof and didn't wanna let go. Heatgun, wedges, pry bars and brute force, to get it shifted.
