Unfortunately when I fitted the replacement head in November 21, I used a BGA gasket, and some time later, discovered that my torque wrench was under-reading by 25Nm, which is a large discrepancy for an initial torque setting of 60Nm. I don't know if it's the HG at fault, or the massive under torque of the bolts, or a combination of both, but the result is coolant pressurising when under heavy loads. It's absolutely fine cruising on the M-way at a steady 65, but on the hills of the A303/A30 the coolant gets blown out the tank, requiring more coolant every 40 miles or so.

Still it got us there and back, so it's not getting any worse.

If only it was water injection Andy. Unfortunately it's going out the overflow, and not getting into the engine at all.

I can't even work out what cylinder is the cause, as coolant doesn't get into the combustion chamber.

The MPG is pretty impressive for a 2 ton brick shaped vehicle.

I always put a bit of wood between axle stands and any metal part and have a piece of tyre cut to the size of the trolley jack.

Don't understand why there was room on one side but not the other when it is symetrical ??

Yes I know, quite weird actually. But I tried all angles without luck. I thought there should be a small difference in height between the drop link mountain and lower spring plate. Will measure properly next time I remove the tires. might be something wrong, don't know if there are different versions of shocks and someone just replaced on one side...

I ended up getting a cheap 15mm socket and cut it shorter so I could use the torque wrench.

The car rides much better now, when I get time and courage I will take me on the ARB bushings.

The bolts holding the ARB bushings are difficult to reach and are often so rusted they either round off or break so be prepared you may need to drop the subframe. It is fairly easy to do though so don't be too concerned.
Also the plastic part which stops the ARB from moving side to side breaks so this may be an issue in the future, I guess the bottom line is if it ain't broke don't fix it.
If you do decide to go ahead maybe get a subframe and ARB from a scrapper and sort it out then after painting swap the two.

ARB collars next to the ARB bush and mounts break and then the ARB slides sideways meaning that contact with the suspension strut on one side is possible. Replacement clamp on collars are the answer.

Hi,
Thanks for feedback and advice. The collars are still there, will try to remove the bolts now when I have bolt extractor. If it fails I could well end up in deciding that the bushings are perfectly fine

Indeed. The FL2 has an amazing climate control system. It makes the interior so cool, that opening a door creates a hot blast of air from outside. I wish the wife's car had such an effective climate control system.

When I first got it I'd needed a regass when the temps were 35+ may have gone the Uber long way home once it was regassed.
