What have you done to your Freelander today

Just been driving, thinking of all the things I need to do to it, started feeling abit heavy recently.... Hope it's not the vcu again as I changed it 30k miles ago ...

Tyre pressures??

Treated her to a new battery

put some more reversing lights on nice and bright now

Dismantled boot lock to try and identify problem with locking mechanism having sent umpteen goes tryong to shut door at tip this morning....I think it needs new springs as springs are how do I put this .....fukt . If they were on an airifle they would need replacing so ....next job replace spings.

I finally got around to replacing the tailgate door lock. The door open microswitch has been knackered for ages, the glass works like it should now

Well I only picked up my first ever Land Rover yesterday - I traded in my MG ZT-T V6 for it, I must say they are very different beasts! I decided I needed a more economical towcar and the Freelander TD4 seems to fit the bill.

Any way, my first mod. I noticed one of the front sidelights was not working so replaced both of them with Halfords LED lights...not strictly legal but a very bright white light.

Tyres next.

Changed the brake light switch

No warning signs on the early ones ...no amigos or anything - just noticed I had no brake lights while parking up the other night.

Fitted new fuel pump so now have a working fuel gauge again.

Finally got around to fitting a replacement tailgate regulator, so get to use the rear load space again:clap2:

I can just imagine the conversation between the original Land Rover project team planning the design of the set up inside the tailgate;

"I know, lets use exposed cables on the regulator so that when one of them rusts through and breaks, and the window is stuck in the up position, it's almost impossible to get at the clamps that hold the glass in place" "Yeah and they will never get the door open anyway so any DIYer will be doubley fuc*ed"

With the help of this forum the days jobs that have completed are:

Both rear window regulators repaired
Rear tailgate regulator repaired
2 x injectors stripped and blockage cleared
Egr valve replaced with straight through pipe

Now time for a celebratory beer!!!!!

fitted my smooth boot handle!

Identified water leak in boot. The door seal is damaged on the passenger side just above the door handle.

Drove it for the first time since buying on Wednesday and ripping off the drive shaft. Very happy with it so far.

Nice days work there quite a lot completed how did you go about stripping the injectors and what did you use to clear the blockage please

Fitted recon VCU and bearings that I got from Bell engineering. Excellent service. It's now 4x4 again now the snow has gone!

I took the bottom of the injector off, took pin out etc and cleaned in an ultrasonic bath full of degizer for 30 mins. One of the injectors was totally blocked which is the one I started with as, if it broke, nothing lost. All went well so I did the other one that wasn't affecting the running as bad but when disconnected there wasn't a major difference.

The job, initially, was quite scary but with a little care on how it came apart and ensuring that you don't drop the little parts it wasn't too bad. I will probably do the other two when I get time and will take pictures if interested.
