What have you done to your Freelander today

Are those wind deflectors actually worth it? I had them on all my Pajeros and ripped them off within the first day as the edge was right on my line of vision and when wet in the dark I couldn't see a thing. Never found they did much either. The only benefit was being able to leave windows open a crack in the summer without sticky fingers getting inside. For that reason I left the back ones on. Do they do much on the Freelander?

I have the same deflectors on mine. The fit is excellent and they do work. They can get in the way on occasion but nothing a quick move of the head won't solve.
 
bought 2 michelin syncros 6mm tread of ebay bargain at £40 the pair
had them fitted today to match the other 2 already on the car same tyres all round now and same tread depth to match
prop back on 2 morrow ready for winter weather
2 infinity 200s .. 215 65 16s..if anyone wants them 3-4 mm tread £20 quid plus courier

I was fed up with mine so I took them off today. I can not live with the massive blind spots in the dark. I can just about live with them in the day time. As I spend more time driving at night, it is safer for me if I remove them.





So I did.
 
I removed the junk standard stereo and fitted my trusty old Kenwood USB MP3 etc..

Sadly, the right door woofer still doesn't work. The tweeter does so it must be after the 'crossover' as the speaker is plugged in ok. They sound crap anyway, so good excuse to change them for good 'uns and fit an amp. Got the remote steering controls to work using the adapter but the fascia single din converter didn't fit until I had widened the 'guide' holes at the top. I also cut a hole in the ashtray so that my USB lead comes out of the back of the stereo and through there, and my USB stick with my audio books on now lives in there. Not as hard as I thought to rip it all out, but did find the handsfree control box for a Sony Ericsson phone in there. Ripped it out as it's no doubt obselete.
 
Ordered new wheelarch diesel pump. Current 1 is rattling a fair bit, but is still working, but I'm not hedging my bets. I've been into the in tank pump which was quiet as a lamb, good. Bet it arrives along with the snow!
 
fitted my bell eng recon vcu and new bearings today....90% of the transmission noise has gone...gonna run it and keep my fingers crossed till the warm weather returns.:)
 
Cleaned it, put some stickers on it and put my winter tyres 215/60 R16 Continental WinterContact's on.





And yes, the spare isn't a winter tyre, but it is the same diameter as the 4 wheels on the car, so it will have to do as a spare until I can afford some bigger tyres.
 
Been to my mates and had the rear brake slave cylinders replaced as they were starting to weep, they cost the extortionate price of £5+VAT each :D
While he was busy mending, I took a sanding disk to the hubs and then gave them a nice thick coating of black hammerite. Looks a damn site better now.
Also changed the headlights (cos he had them lying around) for the newer style with the clear indicator lenses instead of amber ones. Again made a nice improvement to the look I think :)
 
Replaced IRD today, on examination of knackered one, oil cooler was blocked and baked solid with coolant sludge, remains of oil in bottom of the box cooked, bearings on front drive pinion knackered and seized, mechanic (nephew) reckons IRD overheated, dumped oil out of rear drive pinion seal, result one fried IRD.

replaced droplinks again and removed plastics to allow welding on outer sills :eek:
