Have not read my posts? It's not fitted and won't be until I'm happy. To be fair I don't really give a #### what a tester "considers" to be dangerous, until the tester shows me they are qualified to tell me what is a dangerous, as in structural engineers.
If you have done it properly, what have you done differently to me? All I have done so far is cut the bottom of the hole the steering arm goes through, down to the top of the chassis rail, then ground it all flat. It will be welded and inspected by a welder at work, who is a qualified structural engineer.
I haven't tried to **** you off by the way, and I didn't intend to make it sound like I was saying you don't know what your on about. I read what I read, and took it at face value.

I think you should start a thread on fitting a 2" lift "properly" and show what other mods you have done to your hippo to suit the lift!
I think it would be a good read and I need to do something to the inner wings where the steering arms go through so would like to see pics of what you have done
I even think it would become a sticky!
I think I'm just going to modify the spacers. I will see if the metalsmiths will cut them down on there lathe by about 10-12mm, then the steering arms won't touch at all. I know this isn't a solution for the masses, but it's one I have at my disposal.

On the MOT and steering, I am with Mr Do on that. The 'good' MOT guys I use apply common sense as well as the VOSA rules.
If they have the car up in the air and suspension at full extension to check all the stretchy bits, and they find that the steering does not work properly because of a bad mod, they are going to fail it.

I told you what I've done and it sounds like it sank in! It sounds like you're doing it properly so why all the mot crap?
The stupid tester is the one giving you your ticket so you need to give a ****!
There is personal opinion in it. But most of it is laid out in black and white!
I know a structural engineer! He knows nothing about cars and admits it.
I'm a time served master technician that used to mot. In a round about way you've called me a retard!
I'm trying to give sound advice to encourage safe modifications! Why do you think most of Europe have banned any mods? It's cos idiots can't do it safely cos they think they know better. I come on here to offer advice and help. I don't ask questions. Most respect my opinions!

I'm not denying that mate, I'm trying to say that as per the VOSA inspection standards, that's not strictly correct (for the freelander anyway).
I will see if I can get the spacers modified to let the track rods clear the chassis rails at full extent. I would rather know its going to work in every situation, rather than any situation apart from full extent.
Good choice me thinks.

Nothing wrong with doing it, just do it safely! They're more involved than traditional landys.
I looked up the specific tests for steering as i read two post about people fitting lift kits without modifying the inner wings, i was curious! I will drop the MOT stuff now mate, like I said in the last post life's too short.
Can you see a problem with getting the spacers modified?
