HP pump seal has let go rather abruptly I think.
That's unusual, as normally they just weep slowly, like mine has been doing for 12 months.
I did consider it to be fair @Nodge68 but it was a fairly swift diagnosis and I only had to wait 30 mins for the RAC. I was literally two minutes from home too!
If you need a hand, or want to borrow my pulley retainer tool, then let me know. ;)

Had a new HP pump about three years ago so it is quite frustrating if I'm honest
That's not a good advert for whoever supplied it. 3 years for a part that should last 150K miles is bad.

Eye tie wrap those plastic arch indicator hole covers into place ter make sure they dun't come oft.
Just use the correct scrivet, or a fir-tree panel retainer, in the hole provided. ;)

One of mine went missing oft road. For me tie wraps are stronger and won't come oft if you use new holes at the side. Mine was ripped out previously.

I should add that I lost a hole from the wheel arch panel when it ripped out.

Had the tailgate in bits looking into why fuse f6 blew a couple times. Turns out the fuel filler flap solenoid has stopped playing...

That's kind John but I'm going to leave this one to the garage, and I'll probably call on you for the water pump and stat at some point so don't want to take the p155. I'm already resigned to a few hundred quid going on the credit card in the next few days.

Indeed! I've just found the garage receipt. Paid £554.40 on 06/05/2016. The pump itself was £372. Do peeps think I have any recourse? I guess not as it's three years and one month ago. If so though, I might enquire who the supplier was at least just to help other folks out on avoiding poor parts.

Better than they were.

Probably not unfortunately. It's been 3 years.

Wow. That's an expensive, bad quality rebuilt pump. You can get a decent quality reconditioned pump for half that money. It only takes a couple of hours to replace too, even if it's the first time.

Unfortunately not, but it's not a good advert for the reconditioners work.

What I tried to do today was pump up my tyres with a foot pump I bought. The pump self destructed on first pump so I took it back. All I want is a robust foot pump that will last a few years; don’t need any special kit as only for home use for hippo and motorcycles. Any suggestions/recommendations?

Does it have to be manual? My ex brought a dirt cheap 12 volt thing (connects to car battery) from argos, had it years and it's still going strong.

I've got a brass barrelled foot pump that been going for decades. I just had to replace the rubber hose a few years back as the original had deteriorated, but other than that...

I bought my foot pump from Halfords about 5 years ago. It is double barrelled and has a guage on it but it isn't that accurate so. I use a separate pressure guage to do a final check. I also have one of those cheap 12volt compressors which I use most of the time.

Thanks for replies, I have found a German make foot pump single cylinder for £20 which looks like it is robust enough to take me kicking the pony and trap out of it so ve shall see it zis vorks. Apparently same one used to pump up Tiger tank tyres the man said
