What have you done to your Freelander today

Finally got round to replacing my nsf window regulator. Funny old episode lasting 5 weeks. Bought a cheap one off ebay, which was good enough quality wise but, when it arrived it was marked 'drivers side'. Eventually got a refund after trying to explain to a Chinese person, (from Leighton Buzzard, allegedly), that he sent the wrong one.
Anyway, got another, started again and fitted today only to find that the new one was wrong. Now I know they were different, as the first thing I did, was check them side by side when the new one arrived. So the original one was pulled out of the shed and did in fact fit.
What a saga and the poor Chinese fella is out of pocket.
Hey ho, widow goes up, window goes down, I have a spare and he was a clown.

Check twice, strip the door down once....!
 
put a v6 bumper on (it has fog and spot pods)
took about 4 hours but had to cross cut all screws and cut
one wing bolt putting it back was a 10 minute job with all stainless
screws . just a pity there was no wiring for fog lamp under the old bumper.
 
New door handle fitted. I knew it was on its way out, but it finally croaked today.

As you can see the bolt holes have collapsed.
Put a spare one on I've got, it's an old green one. I'll change it for a black one to match, at some point.

Not done anything other than order new handbrake cables from Bearmach as my 'equaliser' is squint and reading Nodge's advice on another post suggests that the 'shorter' cable is jammed which correlates with a stuck on handbrake/drum that my daughter experienced. Anyway, if it doesn't work at least I have someone to blame....any 'fix' will, not doubt be down to my 'spannering' activities...;-)

You wouldn't by any chance have a pic from the shallows of the car on a beach by a river estuary with the coastal bush and rolling hills backdrop? I recon that would make for a smashing pic :)
 
Not mine, the mother in laws V6. Replaced the front lower arms. I bought a pair to fit today, only to discover the supplier had sent 2 left hand sides.:mad:

So I fitted the left side, which all came apart perfectly, even the rear bush.:)
I then fitted a good second hand RH arm, that I had from my own SE when I changed the arms a few weeks back. Again the rear bush slid off easily, so no swearing was needed. I'll replace the RH arm for next MOT, giving the supplier plenty of time to send me the correct arm.
Next instalment will be do the rear brakes, that snatch on if the HB lever is pulled while moving forwards.:confused:

Not today but Saturday I replaced the brake shoes and springs on Blue. It looks like the problem with the dodgy handbrake was a right hand side shoe fitted to the LHS. The swingy metal plate thingy that should be facing inwards was facing outwards. :eek: No idea how it happened but the handbrake has been rubbish since we got the car so the PO must have screwed up somehow.

I've just ordered a complete rear brake assembly for the V6. When I tested the HB, the NS locked on solid with a bang. Then dragged the wheel when I tried to drive forward. It released if I pressed the foot brake or reverse. This obviously isn't safe to use in an emergency. So a full rebuild is going to be done, including the cables.
 
It was yesterday actually and it was the mother in laws V6.
I replaced both HB cables and fitted new rear shoes as the HB was locking on solid, until the foof brake was pressed.
I then took it for the MOT, which it passed with no advisories. So that's the mother in law happy for the next 12 months. We'll until she pays me what I've spent on it this year.
 
Today is my birthday, so was hoping the Freelander would be nice to me, while I was stripping off the high pressure fuel pump. However things went pear shaped very quickly, so I've come in for a relaxing beer.

I did paint the spare wheel carrier, which I've been meaning to do for ages. And I fitted the spare of my newly acquired 18" wheels. I'll need 4 new tyres for the other 4 18" road wheels. However this 18" spare is closer in diameter to my 17" AT tyres than the 17" spare, so I decided to fit it.

Of course as a connected the battery up, the rear door window cable decided to snap, leaving the window half down. So that is now being held up with a modified sash clamp. It never rain's, it pours.
