And once again it’s passed….
Nipples greased

You'll be scouring the Landy adverts by 13.30 today. Post pics when a new one arrives ;)
Sadly not - age and decrepitude has put paid to crawling around under an oily/muddy projects, I’ve had many Years of enjoyment doing exactly that and have gained irreplaceable experience as a result, learnt a lot from this Forum as well! But as my wingman (the prodigal) has now left home it’s time to hang up the spanner’s (and have a clean drive!). I’ve still got green oval exposure as I work for JLR, but company cars don’t really count😜. Will still lurk….

Finished cutting the roof insulation to size, not going to actually fit until the weather improves.
Fitted a genuine aerial, had to cut a massive hole in the chequer plate.
Cleaned and greased up the wiper mechanism and fitted new washer pipe.
Found out it needs a new washer pump and drivers front indicator has an issue, bulb holder I do believe, that's a job for next weekend.

I got several replacement brackets from Brownchurch a couple of years ago. They were still selling parts then.

Had a delivery of some bits from LR Parts on Monday, so started the task of fitting them today.

Began with blasting 17tonnes of dirt, sand, and oil out from the chassis and underside. On the plus side, it looks a lot better than it did before! Sills looked a lot better then, at least I was able to see the holes for the folding side steps. Offered up the drivers side step, doesn't easily fit as there's a bolt coming down from the top where it wants to sit. Gave up on that side, went to the passenger side where it bolted into the sill easily. Drilled the hole in the chassis (nerve-wracking) for the supporting arm to bolt to, and managed to set the rivnut without a tool!

After that, fit the grab handles to the A pillars on both sides, fit and finish of the handles is lovely. Screws supplied with them seem a tad long though, as the handles are a little loose with the screws tightened all the way. I reckon I'll take the screws back out, shorten them a few mm, then reinstall.

Other than that, I've been painting some more pieces gloss black. Got the wheel arches, sills, and wingtop chequer plate done. Well, the arches and sills are primed and got one coat on, the wingtops are done. Need to get some more paint to finish the bonnet, and second/ third coat the rest.

I've planned to tint the window in the rear door as I want to be able to sleep in the back, so reckon tint is a good start. Got a roll of film from Halfords for like £15, might tackle that job soon. Also in the works will be to insulate the roof. Spotted in a listing for a similar Defender that they used egg carton foam on the inside, and it didn't look too bad to be honest. Works with the utilitarianism look of the MOD Defenders. I'll buy some foam in a few months and try it out.

Can't remember if I said before, but I did manage to move one of the side facing bench seats in the rear to be beside the other, so now back up to 4 seats in the back, along the drivers side. Leaves the opposite side free for slotting in the plywood base on top of the ?wheel boxes? to act as the base for a bed.
