What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

I think the defender 300tdi turbo is a Garrett T250-04 having done a bit of research. But I have had a few beers. :)

That's a good way to do research. Plus, it is Friday night!

Cheers Guys, would raise a glass but i am teatotal, had to give it up 8 years ago..

So you have one for me..

Took delivery of shiny thing,

Many thanks to Fourby who were super efficient only ordered it yesterday morning, haven't ordered the inlet / exhaust gasket so cannot fit it.

But can clean the compressor housing etc up and put that back together

Off to the tool shop today got an after hours visit arranged, need some stuff for the farm and can you ever have enough shiny things in your toolbox, new set of 3/8 driver short sockets for me i think

Did you pay for express delivery?

Got it past the MOT last week and took it to work today. Drove to the main gates all fine, stopped the engine to wait while the keyholder turned up. Went to drive in when the gates were open and was met by a flash in the fusebox upon turning the key. Lost all electrical power to the cabin completely. Had to get pushed into the car park!

We looked at it during breaks. The main earths were pretty flimsy so we added a new earth strap to the chassis and gearbox. Discovered the starter solenoid wire was worn through bare on the back of the engine, hence the fuse blowing in the morning. Main live wires from the starter to the cabin were also holding on by threads so those got replaced as well.
Drove it home!

That was the longest drive for the Defender in two years, so all the vibration must have been enough to move the wiring loom around and aggravate existing weaknesses. One day I was planning to redo the whole loom. Today I guess I started.

Took delivery of most of the bits needed to refit inlet & exhaust manifold

waiting on turbo wastegate accuator clip

then hope to fit it this week, need mine running as got a 300tdi to rip out of a defender at weekend.

Thought we were all continually rewiring our landy's @Wonk.. well done for getting it going an driving home

Get the big toys out..
Engine currently half stripped strewn across workshop,,

So far lots of fresh metal swarf in the bellhousing

lots of gunk on oil strainer and in the sump[ looks like surplus silicon, bores look good and no movement in pistons, head looks good all pistons and valves same colour.

More pics tomorrow

FIP off that and currently half installed on my poorly running 110 project

Shower time, glad i spent the day at workshop not screaming at TV whilst watching England lose to Wales

Try to discover the cause of the vibration when throttling back from 50mph. I thought I'd found it when I banged on the washer bottle and it vibrated. Noticed one of the bolts from the carrier was missing. I assumed it fell out during the doe shake down. Put in a new nut and bolt, took for a test drive and.......its still there. Will have to get the missus to drive it while I lean out the window and try and hear where it's coming g from.

Bought a Terrain Master high lift jack mounting rack for the back of the 90. A bit of an impulse buy but then again, some things are! Mrs K will no doubt tell me I’ve been buying junk again...

I had a spare hour so I managed to free up the side steps and fold them back up again. And had a poke underneath the driver’s footwell...

Noticed a more than usual leak from the rear differential in the last couple weeks. A closer inspection revealed the pan was a little worse for wear.
Luckily I picked up a spare one a few weeks ago when it first started to weep oil. So I painted that one over the weekend and replaced it tonight.

Adjusted the transmission break and fitted a new passenger side door latch mechanism. Hand brake was a doddle just a 17 mm socket. Door lock wasnt! Glad I refurbed the door cards last year tho as every thing came off great. A great tip from someone was to replace all of the plastic clips that sit in the actual door that the door cards locate into. Just use a self tapper with the head just a wee bit proud. I just wanted to keep slamming the door but Mrs Stumpy put her foot down

Finished fitting and wired up a pair of decent speakers in the back of the 90.
Speaker each side of rear door, tight to roof, 7 inch dia, 3 way (?) JVC speakers. Must say the difference to the old, still in place speakers just by my lug hole, is amazing, can get decent volume without distortion but without making your ears bleed if that makes any sense.
