What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Battery secured today. The battery has not been secured under the passenger seat since I have owned it, even though it has passed 3 x MOT’s. So today I secured some 25mm plywood to the bottom of the battery bay, containing 2 x 8mm threaded rods. The battery is now nice and secure with a length of timber running along the top of the battery. Locked down via the 8mm threaded rods.

Took it for its first MOT since I bought it a couple months ago. Previously it had been stood idle in a wood for two years before I bought it, although from its appearance you would assume it was left in a swamp.
All I have done so far was to replace the glass fuse box for blade fuses, get the lights working again(that didn't last very long) and some minor cosmetics like a new number plate and more than a few patches on the rear cross member.

I was pleasantly surprised that it only failed on a few things, nothing drastic either.

A clear road map of what is required. Now you can start planning what to do first.

Exactly, I wasn't expecting a pass and I told the examiner that. I just wanted a list of things I needed to do first.
Actually I do need to secure the battery on mine as well one day!
I think a loose battery is an MOT failure, but I may be corrected. Not that they ever check. :)
I will upload a picture of what I’ve done when I get chance, it may give you some ideas when you do yours.

If I'm honest my Freelander battery hasn't been secure for about 4 years and no tester has ever noticed that. That's in the engine bay so it's not like they don't look in the general area. I have had cars fail on insecure batteries before. Maybe Land Rovers are exempt from that!

That would be useful thanks, I'll add it to the list.

Well. i have fitted the alternator / PAS pump bracket, the water pump pulley and half fitted the PAS Pump

then the phone rang with news of being in TIER 4, so gave up and went home to sulk and work out what i am going to do with quite a lot of pheasants now that the farm are unable to host shoot days.

Might have another couple of hours on it tomorrow see if i can get it finished, no rush as need a boat not a car as farm underwater this eve and with shooting season curtailed the need for the 90 on the road pre xmas had diminished.

Also unboxed a new fuel tank that was delivered this afternoon for my 110 project

Luckily my tools are in the back of the 90 which is hiding under the sheet.

Farm have water in the grain stores, the houses, 250 acres of crops under water.

all the pheasant feeders are under water and all the pheasants were sitting in the trees, taking the **** now we are TIER 4 and cant shoot..

i had a lovely afternoon on my Paddle Board taking pics for the insurrance claim.

Had to rescue the farm navara from the barn by paddling in and driving out..
Gonna be a bad day in Jan for the NFU

I think this year has made us appreciate the NHS, front line workers and the people who put food on our plates.
I learned a word years ago, that I think you should use. It’s “bouncebackability”. Good luck with your fight back, and you should know that we appreciate your efforts. :)

Hoping Storm Bella misses us as we are dropping but the river wont hold much more.

However teh workshop is empty of water except a couple of puddles and the heater still works

So i bolted the PAS steering pump on and loosely fitted alternator, however alternator belt seems to catch a bolt on the PAS pump.

So while pondering starting on removal of diesel tank on my 110 project

Bloody bolts are stuck half way undone on the tow bar to chassis arms and the monkey who built this landy at solihull had a sense of humour

how am i suppose to get this undone top end isn't much better.

but the bolts all move that hold tank so might get it out tomorrow..as well as unbunging pheasant feeder with wet wheat

Today put the dogs in the back & took them for a short drive. Older dog was happy in the crate hidden under the blankets puppy thought it’s too noisy. Best get used to it. They don’t get to travel in the front with the heater ;)
 
i have put my 90 back together and driven it around the farm, smoke has cleared and it seemed to be running ok.

Set off home 6 miles less than half way home odd noise and then all ceased. coasted to a halt.

quick turnover no good.

Got the missus who was following me to get on the front with my L200 rope out, homeward bound with Missus who has never towed on the front me in the landy. down a dual carriageway trunk road....oops.

She did really well and both vehicles home intact, check in injector pump plate belt seems intact and the pump turns when key turned

it turns over wont quite start, cracked an injector, got diesel there.

Had rocker cover off and all valves seem to be working ok etc.

think either diesel pump timing has slipped or the main timing belt adjuster has moved / come loose

Ran out of daylight and my project is in the barn and we took telehandler to other end this morning for flood clear up tomorrow so cant moved them around as it is uphill into barn

fingers crossed it is not too bad damage wise

Guess i will be looking tomorrow maybe dependant on flood clear up or re-flooding

might attempt this tomorrow as well

@Cavey_P38 nip the clamp with a grinder it should snap off ;)

tow bar bolts cut through,drop tank & drift the remainder back through.

Took your advise and fired up the milwalkee angle grinder,

tow bar brackets done

jubilee clamp nipped off

got pipe off sensor side

just got electrical connection to gauge to get undone

left it draining fuel into a large receptacle.

Went home to spend rest of day with Missus who was told by zoom today that her Pizza hut store was being shut in 2 days time where she has worked for 30 years..

needless to say she ain't happy..

Have a good eve.
Hopefully tank change tomorrow, might summon the energy to look at the 90 as well but been clearing up after the flood.

unbunging the big dryer as the 400 tonnes of wheat in the shed need to go through it..
Bloody cold out and about here in the flat lands

Good luck to your missus. Tell her not to worry I was made the same last year after 20 years at the same place. Enjoy life.

as for the LR did you get a galv rear tank?
