What grit range for paint rub down?

Going to rub down and respray my doors. What grit range would y'all in the know suggest to give a good key. Wasn't planning to rub down to bare metal.

Was thinking 400?

320 for a good key for primer, then flatten primer with 800 or 1000 before applying paint.

Half a concrete block for the fine work and find something heavy for tough areas. Polish out with some hessian and loose gravel.

For aerosol, ^what Clive says^. I usually use 180 but that's with 2k primer.

Also depends on the condition of the door. The person who painted mine before me slapped paint on with a brush and it was full of brush marks. I ended up with 180 then 240. Loads of high build then 400, using a DA. That after 2 coats of top coat i moved to hand sanding with 800, 1000, 2000. 2000 bit pointless as the body isn't super straight and dint free.
