Last year I picked up a more or less abandoned One Ten which I was going to use for spares but having looked it over at the weekend I'm now thinking of putting it on the road for a while..... The thing is though.....

.......as far as I was aware the One Ten was launched at the 1983 Geneva motor show which a quick Google reveals was held between the 3rd and the 13th March 1983..... The logbook for this One Ten says it was first registered on the 7th March 1983.

How do I work out how many One Tens had been down Lode Lane before my one? I'm hazarding a guess that it wasn't very many.....

Should have mentioned that last night. I've tried vin decoders but they only seem to list the last six digits as a "serial number". The online decoders I've used don't seem to be any more specific than that. Can you find more information?

My VIN is SALLDHMH7AA187686

All I can really find out it is the approximate build date was January. Unfortunately the Series 3 was still being produced until 1985 (although I don't know if that was at Solihull) so I doubt you'll be able to use the serial number from the vin to narrow it down

Very much appreciated, both of you.

Would anyone like Dunsfold for example be able to shed any more light on this? What would a Heritage certificate tell me that we haven't already worked out?
