What engine is in Dixie?

A 'P' plate Defender 90 with 'Dixie' written on the back joined the A3m heading south yesterday and astounded me with its speed, exceeding the limit whilst going up hill easily keeping up with all the Audis in the fast lane.
Does any one out there know the power plant of this beast?
I'm thinking it must be a Disco 3.9 V8 coupled to the higher geared Disco transfer case.

Likely a Land Rover V8 engine, could be a heavily Tuned TD5 (seen them up to 200+ Hp) (though a V8 sound is normally evident)
