What do you use to prevent leather damage from child car seats?

Good point and good idea.
Your post has made me realise one thing; no matter what I use it will still leave indents.

I suppose the question is just how far to go to minimise the risk.
Your idea will be cheaper but I'd worry that such a flat surface would make the seats liable to movement, and I can't take any risks with my kids safety
:)
Thanks,
Will

If this is your over riding concern, and lets face it, it should be, then why not just accept that the correct method of installation will leave dents in the seat.:(

By trying to find a fix like this will proably be against the recommendations of the seat manufacturer and could impact on the security of the installation.

i would have thought that some of the more upmarket makers of kiddy seat would have considered this. have you tried recaro as they do a seat sytem that lasts from birth till they is big enough not to need a booster seat. its possible that their system wont leave dents.

The seats I have were nearly £400/pair, I ain't replacing the seats!

To give you an idea of the concern, I used them for the first time for a fourty minute round trip [40mins in the seats and two hours between each journey without sitting in them] and, having taken the seats out when we got home, the resultant 'dents' lasted a further 48hrs.

All from 40mins weighted activity.

I'll try the seat mats on the link I provided previously, we'll be swapping them into the other car throughout the week anyway so that will suffice.

Thanks to all that assisted :)

As I said before taking the child seat out and swapping it around like you are doing would see no lasting damage, i would have thought.

The only problem you might get is debris accumulating around the seat base where it comes into contact with the leather, this may wear the leather.
