I need to re-spray my defender (as i put it back together again) and im in two minds -

I keep flipping between thinking it looks good, and then i go the other way, and just think it looks like a bodge job, only applied because the person with the gun cant get a finish with anything else - which im pretty sure is why a lot of it is used!

Undeniably it covers defects better, and is less effort than a proper paint job.

I dont know - what do you think?

I personally like it. I would consider it on an old landy like mine as an all over coating. It seems to add a density to panels, is acceptable as a finish over dents and scuffs etc where a 'proper' paint job would have to be done over as near perfect a surface as possible IMO. As above though, on a newer, tidier vehicle, I think I would just use it on the bolt on bits.
It would be brilliant on an interior of a working vehicle / off roader......

It depends on what finish you are hoping to achieve. I roller painted my 110 with standard enamel and got a very reasonable finish on it with minimal prep work on dents and scuffs. but i was not looking for a concourse finish just a general tidy up of a working vehicle.
I agree with the above that I think it is best on bolt on parts and load beds rather than a bodywork finish. But also consider that unless it is going to be a show truck the body work will not stay in good condtion for very long and will soon pick up scratches and scuffs so you don't need as perfect a paint job in the first place.

Not to my taste anywhere but underneath, and it's pretty permanent. I can see the attraction to hide blemishes if that kind of thing bothers you.

I like raptor coat, but it has its place. I have seen raptor coat on a lot of things and would not want my car painted with it. But people do it and each to there own. I would certainly be put off buying a Raptor painted vehicle too. It is a bit of a nightmare to keep clean, you can't just give it a rub with a cloth! From knowledge of damaged liner type coats it is not easy to fix, you would think you could just blast more over an area that was damaged but it is a bit like plastering, it needs fully removed and redone or very skilful re-application so it doesn't look like a patch-up mess.

My tub interior is getting white Raptor later in the spring and the underside is getting Gravitex - I think I will do the bumper in raptor too but that will be later in the year or next year as my projects list is already too big this year.
