Hi All

Just bought a 2003 Freelander with 80k . Engine is a TD4 . Gearbox is automatic.

No service books came with the car so unsure what has been done or not.

What would ye recommend doing on the next service?

Thanks

Afraid not , will be getting a local garage to do the job.

As a matter of interest is there an online guide for DIY'ers ?

i would go for a major service and cambelt change if i was you. as the old saying goes better to be safe then sorry

TD4's don't have have cambelts but the 60k service is the one to do. Also make sure all transmission oils are changed, crankcase breather filter, pollen filter are done & check the condition of the intercooler rubber hoses. Remove & thoroughly clean the egr & check out the operation of the VCU. Remove the rear brake drums & clean & lightly grease the handbrake pivot.

Thanks Chromiumuk :) - at least it gives me peace of mind as my mechanic has never worked on a Freelander before.

deffo get the auto fluid changed, and, as per chromiumuk, even though it's not in the service schedule, crankcase breather filter is a MUST DO.

I never came across a crankcase breather filter before - what happens if its not changed?

Is it a trouble spot in the TD4.

They are about £34 on ebay – does this sound about right.
